Broadmayne’s  first Scattering of Scarecrows  took place  in June 2007 in  conjunction with the Open Gardens event  organised by  St Martin’s Church.

It was such a success that it was decided that  a second scattering would be organised in conjunction with the 2009 Open Gardens event but this time with the added incentive of  The Broadmayne Scarecrow Cup being awarded to the best scarecrow, as judged by children who took the Scarecrow Trail.

Over the weekend of 4th & 5th June 2011, Villagers and local organisations excelled themselves yet again by producing more than 50 imaginative and colourful scarecrows of varying shapes and sizes to entertain both residents and visitors.  The Broadmayne Scarecrow Cup was again awarded to the best scarecrow as judged by the children.
